UHV (STM) 1 K Bath Cryostat

The UHV (STM) 1 K Bath Cryostat is a 1 K helium pot suitable for both single shot and continuous operation. It is mounted and fed from an ultra-low loss helium bath cryostat with a nitrogen shield with two vapor cooled
radiation shields for added performance. The system was initially conceptualized for STM, TEM and AFM measurements, whereby ultra-low vibrations are required for atomic resolution. With its high performance and compact design, this system is a staple of the SPM community. As is with all our systems, the UHV Bath Cryostats can be modified to best suit your individual needs.

Technical specifications

  • Fully UHV / XHV compatible, can be baked up to 150°C
  • SPM / STM / AFM compatible
  • Temperature range: 1.0 K to 4.2 K
    (and higher upon request)
  • Compact design: 10 LHe / 21 LN2 configurations as standard
  • Ultra-low cryogenic consumption LHe / LN2: > 120 hours and > 250 hours hold time, respectively
  • DN250 / 300CF base flanges for easy integration
  • Fully customizable cold plate, radiation shield and design

  • Additional geometries and tanks volumes available
  • Tubes for cabling through the LHe tank
  • Additional DN40CF or DN16CF flanges for customized wiring
  • Passive air damping system fully integrated into the Helium system
  • Low vibration N2 tank via an optimized, unique design
  • Linear push and / or pull mechanism at the tip /
    sample position
  • Fully compatible UHV split pair superconducting magnet with ultra-low loss HTS / LTS current leads
  • Radiation shields with integrated shutters, optical and sample transfer access
